Long Beach, CA – Long Beach City Mayor Rex Richardson appointed James Ahumada to serve on the Long Beach Transit (LBT) Board of Directors. His first LBT Board of Directors meeting was on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

“The LBT Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Director James Ahumada,” shared Board Chair Abigail Mejia. “His dedication to public service in the community will bring valuable insights as we continue building toward a more sustainable and accessible future.”

Director Ahumada is a Council District One resident.  He currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Deputy CEO of the Downtown Long Beach Alliance. Prior to this position, he served as Chief of Staff to former Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, in addition to serving as Congressional Senior Advisor. Prior to those roles, Director Ahumada worked at California State University, Long Beach, where he managed the Communications and Marketing division.
