Meet Ernest

Ernest Curtin has been a Long Beach Transit customer since his elementary school days, using LBT’s services to commute to school. Now, as an adult, he remains a dedicated transit user, relying on the UCLA/Westwood Commuter Express to get to and from work. This route is designed to ease the stress of traveling on the congested 405 freeway for UCLA students, faculty, staff and visitors. For Ernest, who has worked in the Emergency Room at UCLA Medical Center for the past seven years, the service has been a game-changer. 

“Before the UCLA/Westwood Commuter Express, I used to drive myself to work,” Ernest shared. “Having grown up riding Long Beach Transit, I was already familiar with their services, so when this route launched, I immediately made the switch.” 

As a seasoned transit user, Ernest encourages newcomers to give public transit a try. “Using public transit is easy when you’re prepared. Plan your trip ahead of time, stay aware of your surroundings, and most importantly, be kind to your operators and fellow passengers.” 

When he’s not at work, you can find Ernest coaching his basketball team or spending quality time with his two granddaughters.
