Meet Martin
Martin Esparza, is a lead mechanic at Long Beach Transit (LBT) who has been with the company for 25 years. Go, Martin! During his time with LBT, he has had to learn new skills and systems as our fleet has grown and changed going from diesel to hybrid and natural gas and now our newer electric buses.
“I’m proud of my role here in the Maintenance Department,” shared Martin. “I know the work I do everyday helps get our customers get to where they need to go. I live in this city, and I even ride our buses when I can. I know how important it is for LBT and our community to maintain our bus fleet.”
Martin’s favorite part about working at LBT has been the team atmosphere in the Maintenance Department.
“When I started at LBT, the more experienced mechanics used to take their time to show me the ropes and train me up on how to repair our buses,” shared Martin. “Now it’s my turn to help the younger mechanics.”
Outside of work, you’ll find Martin riding his bicycle around Long Beach and spending quality time with friends and family.
Are you someone who enjoys working on a team like Martin? LBT’s Maintenance Department is currently looking for mechanics. To explore this opportunity and other available positions at LBT, head over to ridelbt.com/careers.
