
Meet Thelma Zaras-Medrano
Thelma Zaras-Medrano has been an important part of Long Beach Transit (LBT) for the past 20 years. She began her journey as a Customer Care Agent, helping customers plan their trips and sharing information about LBTās services. She was later promoted to Customer Care Lead, and most recently, sheās taken on the role of Customer Care Supervisor!Ā
Thelmaās favorite part of the job is meeting people and giving back to the community she grew up in. āI was born and raised in Long Beach and actually took the bus growing up. Itās special to now work for the company that once helped me get aroundāand now I get to help others do the same. Over the past 20 years, Iāve seen this company grow in amazing ways, and Iāve loved meeting all the new faces whoāve joined the team,ā she shared.Ā
From being a longtime rider to now leading the Customer Care team, Thelma has learned the ins and outs of using transit with ease. āIf I had to give someone advice on using the bus for the first time, Iād say call our Customer Care line so we can help you plan your tripāor come visit us in person at our Transit & Visitor Information Center at First St. and Pine Ave. in Downtown Long Beach,ā she said.
When Thelma isnāt helping customers navigate the city, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and camping or simply relaxing at home with her family.Ā
