Meet Gwen
Gwen Shaffer is a professor at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) and has been a Long Beach Transit (LBT) customer for the last 13 years. Gwen has preferred public transit all her life from her time living on the East Coast to now in Long Beach.Ā Ā
āTaking the bus is so much less stressful than driving. Thereās no need to worry about parking, traffic or angry drivers, and on my way to my destination, I can sit back, read and relax,ā shared Gwen. āEven though I own a car, if it makes sense to take the bus, itās always my first choice.āĀ
Gwenās favorite route is Route 121, which she uses to get to and from work at CSULB.Ā
āI get to enjoy the coastal views I can catch on my way to and from work on the 121,ā shared Gwen. āOne of the things I appreciate most about the bus is that I know when it is coming and how long it will take me to get there. It gives me extra time to plan out my classes, reply to emails, and prepare for the day before I get to school.ā Ā
Gwen uses LBTās Go Beach! Pass, which provides unlimited rides for CSULB students, staff and faculty at a discounted rate of $100 for a 150-day semester pass or $40 for a 30-day pass. This allows Gwen to avoid the morning rush and the stress that can come with parking on campus, making her commute affordable and easy.Ā
When she is not teaching, Gwen enjoys hot yoga, biking along the beach, and spending time with her teenage son, sharing with him her appreciation for LBT. Ā
Customers can plan their own trips just like Gwen by visiting, ridelbt.com to check schedules, find connections, and map out the best route for you.Ā
