Meet Janet

Janet Marquez is a current California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business management. A lifelong resident of the greater Long Beach area, she began using public transit when she started college and has relied on Long Beach Transit (LBT) ever since.Ā

ā€œI have been using Long Beach Transit for four years now,ā€ she explained. ā€œIf I had to give someone riding the bus for the first time some advice, I would say to get a TAP card. It makes it so easy to ride the bus without worrying about having exact cash. You just tap it on the machine and go. I purchase my pass-through school, which makes the process even easier.ā€Ā

Janet uses the Go Beach! Pass, which covers her commute to campus aboard LBT buses. The pass offers unlimited rides for CSULB students, staff, and faculty at a discounted rate of $40 for a 30-day pass or $100 for a 150-day semester pass.Ā

This week, sheĀ decided to switch things up and explore Long Beach from the water. She headed to Shoreline Village to catch her first ride on the AquaLink. ā€œI have only ever used Long Beach Transit’s services for riding the bus. Route 91 has been my go-to since I started college,ā€ she shared. ā€œI heard about the AquaLink through TikTok, and it looked really fun. I’ve always had a great experience on Long Beach Transit’s buses, so I thought I would check out their boats too.ā€ For more information about riding LBT’s water taxis, visit ridelbt.com/watertaxis.Ā

When she is not studying, Janet enjoys hiking and discovering new places in her community.Ā
