Meet Kobii Howard

Kobii Howard is the Superintendent of the Transit Service Delivery team and has been with Long Beach Transit for almost 29 years. In his role as Superintendent, Kobii oversees a team of Supervisors and Bus Operators, ensuring efficient, courteous and safe service for LBT. 

Kobii got his start at LBT as a Bus Operator, before being promoted to Supervisor and more recently, Superintendent. An interesting fact about Kobii is that he was also an active-duty Marine during his time at LBT, stepping away from his role for four years to serve our country. Thank you, Kobii for your service! 

“I was able to take a lot of the leadership skills that I developed during my time in the Marines and bring what I learned back to my role at LBT,” shared Kobii.  

What Kobii enjoys most about his role is helping people in the community get to where they need to go every day.  

“Everyone at LBT plays a role in helping our customers, from leadership, to our bus operators, and I’m proud of the work I do that helps ensure quality service,” shared Kobii. “I am a proud resident of Carson, and our buses serve the community I where I was born and raised in, and where I am raising my family.” 

For those who might be interested in being a Bus Operator and joining the team at LBT, Kobii encouraged interested applicants to ride our service and get to know the community you’d be serving. 

“Definitely hop on a bus and explore our service area,” shared Kobii. “We have some awesome Bus Operators who would be happy to answer any questions from an interested candidate.” 

During his free time, you can catch Kobii spending quality time with his daughter or jamming out on the piano. 

As National Transit Employee Appreciation Day approaches, Kobii wanted to share a message to our operators and all LBT staff, “Thank you for your dedication, professionalism and commitment to safely moving our community. Stay safe and keep up the great work, one bus stop at a time!”
