Meet Melanie

Melanie Scott is the Administrative Assistant for the Maintenance and Infrastructure Department at Long Beach Transit. She has been part of the Maintenance team at LBT for three years now and has supported her team consistently ever since.  

Melanie’s favorite part about her role is that her daily tasks are never the same as the day before. For this reason, she is always prepared for the unexpected. “Throughout the day you can find me delivering invoices, supplying paper, booking travel, the list goes on and on…,” shared Melanie. “I try to stay proactive throughout the day to ensure that I am supporting the department and getting ahead of any upcoming projects. The Maintenance Department is an essential part of LBT, we make sure our buses are ready to go out and serve our community and I am proud of the work we do.” 

Melanie is originally from South Bay but eventually moved to Torrance. Melanie’s children attend school in Long Beach, so working in Long Beach is an essential way to stay close to the family and support the community. 

“I know how important public transportation is for the community I live and work in, whether we are getting kids to and from school or helping people on their daily commute.” 

During her free time, you can find Melanie at various sporting events supporting her kids and spending quality time with her family.
