Parents and Guardians

Take the stress out of taking your child to school and leave the driving to Long Beach Transit. Our buses save you time and gas money, letting you plan your day while your student gets to campus safely. Because adults have places to be, too.

Safety

Your child’s safety aboard our buses is a top priority. Long Beach Transit follows the latest health and safety guidelines from local officials, which you can see on our Bus Ride Basics page. At this time, all customers aboard our buses are required to wear face coverings.

Fare

Standard Student Fare

Standard fare is $1.25 per ride.

If students ride with LBT everyday to and from school and for other activities, that’s about $50-75 per month. Save money with the $40 monthly reduced fare TAP Card for students which includes unlimited rides. Parents and guardians can create an account for each student and apply online any time.

College and University Students

You’ve got your independence. You’ve got your new social calendar. You might even have a car. When you ride Long Beach Transit to campus and back, you’ll also have a way to avoid parking, never get a ticket, and study and text while on the road. Sounds like a no-brainer.

CSULB

You do things differently at The Beach, like dip in a swimming pool in the middle of campus. What’s that all about? One thing you won’t question is riding the bus to campus, work and home. It’s easy and affordable. 

Reduced fare passes

Long Beach Transit offers a special CSULB Go Beach! pass with unlimited rides for students and faculty. You can purchase a Go Beach! 30-day pass for $40 ($65 value) or for an even better deal the Go Beach! 150-day semester pass for $100 ($365 value). The standard single-ride fare is $1.25.

Passes are active for either 30 days or 150 days, depending on your selection, from the first day used onboard a bus.

How to get your pass with a smartphone:

  1. Obtain a one-time use promo code via the LBT Pass Qualtrics Survey.
  2. Open or download the TAP LA mobile application from the App Store or Google Play
  3. Select the CSULB Go Beach! 150-day or 30-day pass 
  4. Add the one-time promo code at checkout to see discounted price
  5. Complete your purchase
  6. Optional: Add your pass to your Apple/Android Wallet to make riding with LBT even easier!

How to get your pass without a smartphone edition:

  1. Obtain a one-time use promo code via the LBT Pass Qualtrics Survey 
  2. Get your physical TAP Card in person at LBT’s Transit & Visitor Information Center or one of the many other TAP retail locations.
  3. Visit the TAP webpage
  4. Create an account and input your TAP Card serial number
  5. Select the CSULB Go Beach! 150-day or 30-day pass 
  6. Add the one-time promo code at checkout to see discounted price
  7. Complete your purchase
  8. Wait 60 minutes for the pass to be remotely loaded to your card
  9. Tap the card on a bus within 30 days of purchase to activate it

LBCC Strong Beach Bus Pass 

Long Beach City College and Long Beach Transit have partnered to provide free TAP passes for eligible students.

Who is eligible for the Strong Beach Bus Pass?
College Promise, Viking Advantage, or full-time students who are in good academic standing.

How do I get a Strong Beach Pass?
If you qualify, you should have received an email in your student inbox with instructions. If you didn’t and would like to see if you qualify, email basicneeds@lbcc.edu.
