For K-12 and Long Beach City College Students

Students, it’s Go Time.

Do your thing and don’t worry about paying fare with the GoPass TAP Card for K-12 and community college students. Learn about the pass, find your school, and start riding LBT buses and other transit systems.

GoPass TAP Cards are available to K-12 and Long Beach Community College students. See how you can get your card below.

Step 2: How to Register

Once you get your pass, register your pass. 

You can use your card within a few hours of registering.

Your card needs to be activated by tapping it on a TAP validator within 30 days.

Participating K-12 Schools

LBUSD and LAUSD schools are now participating in the GoPass TAP Card program. To see if your school qualifies visit the Metro GoPass page, and then you must contact your school’s main office.

Long Beach Transit, in partnership with the City of Carson, has expanded its services to serve Carson. For more information, view Carson routes here.

There are other participating K-12 schools that qualify for the GoPass Tap Card. To see if your school qualifies, visit the Metro GoPass page.

Long Beach City College 

The GoPass TAP Card is your connection between campuses, and your pass to get to work, home and beyond.

To get your GoPass mailed to you, log into your Viking Portal and follow these instructions:

  • Click the Viking Student Systems tab
  • Click Student Services, and under “My Participation Agreements” submit the GoPass Transportation Agreement.

GoPasses will be sent by mail and delivered to your address listed in your Viking Portal within 10-14 days after submission of your agreement.

Don’t forget to register and load your yearly pass onto your new GoPass TAP Card online at taptogo.net/fareless or by calling 866.TAPTOGO.

GoPass Activation Dates: Fall 2023: August 14, 2023 to February 18, 2024.

Other Agencies Involved in the GoPass Program

LBT’s major routes connect you to other local, sub-regional and regional transit systems such as Metro and Torrance.

All customers must follow LBT’s Code of Conduct and ensure you don’t allow others to use your card. Please review the Book of Bus Behaviors before you ride.

Some Reminders

Take a photo of your GoPass TAP Card.

If your card is lost or stolen, contact your school administration for a replacement and visit tagtogo.net/fareless to activate your new card. Your original GoPass TAP Card will be deactivated. 

Please note: TAP cards, including the GoPass TAP card, are not accepted for LBT water taxis.

Your GoPass is for you only. If someone else uses your card, it will be revoked.

Students are subject to school rules when riding public transportation to and from school. For student participants under 13 years of age, verified consent from a parent/guardian is required.
