Meet Michael Alvarez

Michael Alvarez is a hardworking mechanic at Long Beach Transit (LBT) and has been part of the team for three years. During his time at LBT, he’s gained new skills and knowledge, taking on different challenges every day. He enjoys that each day is different and values the chance to keep learning in his role. 

“If everyone is on the same page, we can all work faster and keep Long Beach Transit running smoothly,” Michael says. As a key part of LBT’s maintenance team, Michael’s dedication helps keep buses running reliably for the community, and we appreciate all the hard work he puts in. 

One of Michael’s favorite things about working at LBT is the supportive and collaborative environment. He believes that being part of a motivated and communicative team is important for solving problems quickly. “Having a team that communicates well and supports each other makes all the difference,” he shares. This strong teamwork at LBT helps create a positive work environment and keeps things running smoothly. 

For Michael, the best part of his job is knowing that his work helps the Long Beach community.  

As a resident of Long Beach, he feels proud to contribute to a service that helps his neighbors and family get where they need to go. To Michael, working for LBT isn’t just a job—it’s a way to give back to the city he loves. 

When he’s not working, Michael spends his weekends with family and friends, enjoying quality time with the people who matter most.
