What is a TAP Card: A Transit Access Card allows customers to pre-load their fare, known as stored value, or purchase passes to pay fare when boarding the bus.
How do you use a TAP Card: Tap your card on the blue TAP Mobile Validator on your left as you board the bus. Wait for the beep and green screen to indicate to the Bus Operator your card is valid. Fare is subtracted from your TAP card like a debit card each time you use it.
How to load and activate a TAP Card:
- TAP Card must be loaded with at least $5 for it to be activated.
- TAP Cards can be purchased or reloaded online at taptogo.net, through the TAP App, or in person at LBT’s Transit & Visitor Information Center or one of the many other TAP retail locations.

* Customers who apply in person will receive a temporary TAP card that they can use until their permanent card arrives.

*If applying by mail, customers will receive their TAP card within 20 business days after verification has been completed.
The Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) program provides transportation assistance to low-income individuals. LIFE offers fare subsidies that may be applied toward the purchase of passes on LBT or any LIFE participating transit agencies.
LIFE also offers fare subsidies that may be applied toward 20-Regional Rides.
